Instructions For Windows
Below you will find instructions with screenshots to open the P&Q Factory Simulator on Windows.
Step 1.
Download: Click on the "Download For Windows" button and wait for the simulator to finish downloading.
Step 2
Locate the Folder: Navigate to your downloads folder and find the zipped folder named "P&Q Simulator Windows"
Step 3
Extract the Folder: Click on the zipped folder ONCE to highlight it. Then click on "Extract all" to unzip the contents.
Step 4
Choose Extraction Location: You'll see a pop-up prompting you to select where you want to extract the folders to. In this example we will simply keep the folder in the Downloads folder, so we will just click on Extract.
Step 5
Open the Unzipped Folder: Navigate to where you extracted the folder and open it. As we extracted it to the Downloads folder, we will find it there.
Step 6
Accessing the Simulator: Now open the "P&Q Simulator Windows" folder, which will take you to the final part where you can access the P&Q Simulator
Step 7
Locate the App: Inside, locate the app named "P&Q Simulator Windows."
But before it can be launched, it needs to be unblocked, in steps 8 & 9 you'll see how to do that.
Step 8
Unblocking the App: Right-click on "P&Q Simulator Windows" and select "Properties"
Step 9
Unblocking the App: Navigate to the bottom, where you'll see a "Security" section.
To the right, there is a checkbox labeled "Unblock." Select the "Unblock" box, then click "Apply."
Step 10
Launch the App: Double-click the "P&Q Simulator Windows" app.
A command prompt will appear, and after a few moments, the P&Q Simulator will open in your default browser.
Step 11
Windows Defender Firewall: If a "Windows Defender Firewall" notification pops up, select "Allow Access."
Now you can explore the P&Q Simulator!

Activating Your License
Step 1
Start the model and click "Start."
Step 2
Copy your unique key-request code and send it to
marketing@goldrattresearchlabs.com (or the person on the GRL team who is helping you).
We will then generate a license key and send it to you.
Step 3
Copy the long license key we will send you, and paste it into the editbox at the bottom (in 3)
Step 4
Click "Activate" and restart the simulator, close it down and start it again. You should now have access to all features in the P&Q Simulator.

License Activation - Troubleshooting
If you encounter the message "This license key seems invalid (License state found as EXPIRED). Please try again." while trying to activate your license for this simulator, please follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.
Step 1
Check Antivirus Protection
Antivirus software can sometimes interfere with the activation of software licenses. Please try the following:
Step 1.1 - Temporarily Disable Antivirus Protection:
Temporarily turn off your antivirus and attempt to activate the license once more. Check your antivirus user guide for how to do this correctly.
Step 1.2 - After turning off the antivirus:
If successful: Great! Proceed to add the simulator as an approved app in your antivirus settings. This prevents future activation issues while keeping your computer protected.
If unsuccessful: Move on to Step 2 for further troubleshooting.
Remember to activate your antivirus protection after trying this troublshooting step.
Explanation
This might work for you because the antivirus software may be preventing the simulator from receiving or downloading the license file during the activation process. When it is disabled, you allow the simulator to "receive/download" your license.
Step 2
Check the Location Where You Unzipped the Simulator
#1 - Unzip Correctly:
When you first unzip the simulator, make sure you do it in the location you want to keep it. Moving the folder after unzipping can cause issues.
#2 - Preferred Location:
It's best to unzip the simulator directly into "My Documents" or a similar location where you plan to access it from.
Explanation
This might work for you because the simulators rely on file paths set during installation. Moving the files to or from different drives, after unzipping can break these paths, causing the simulator to malfunction while trying to "receive/download" your license. Unzipping directly into a permanent location ensures that all file paths remain intact.

Creating A Shortcut

Step 1
Right-click on the "P&Q Simulator Windows" app and click on "Show More Options."
Step 2
From the extended menu, click on "Create shortcut."
Step 3
This will generate a file new named "P&Q Simulator Windows - Shortcut." You can move this shortcut to your desktop, taskbar, or any preferred location for easy access.
